Meet Lauren Wehner, LMSW

Hello! I am a therapist based in Buffalo, NY, with a clinical focus on sex, relationships, and trauma. I am currently completing training toward certification as a sex therapist and working toward EMDR certification, with the goal of providing nuanced, trauma-informed, sex therapy. I believe in a sex-positive, affirming, and collaborative approach. I am particularly interested in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples.

I support my clients through navigating sexual health, consent, communication, relational dynamics, and identity in ways that honor autonomy and lived experience. I strive to create therapeutic spaces that are nonjudgmental, inclusive, and attuned to the intersections of sexuality, power, and trauma.

My Approach to Therapy

I strive to foster a positive relationship with clients by creating a safe space in which clients can feel comfortable sharing their needs and challenges, and where exploring emotions is encouraged and protected. I take a strengths-based approach to therapy, supporting and celebrating clients while also promoting empowerment and resilience.

Am I the right therapist for you?

  • People seeking help with relationships, sexuality, sexual functioning, sexual trauma, sexual or relationship exploration, and identity exploration. I am open to working with anyone of any belief system or ideology as long as we can be respectful of each other.

  • People with intense personality disorder or people who would be considered high risk from an SI, HI, or substance use point of view. A little is ok, but when that is the main issue at hand, I don't think it would be a good fit.

  • I have a pocket pittie named Honey and she's a Virgo. I love films and media to the point of still owning many DVDs. I am a Buffalo native who loves to travel.
